Office Snacks

Office Snacks: A Sure Way to an Employee’s Heart

Are your business’s benefits less than fruitful? Offer office snacks instead.

Crazy about cereal? Nuts about nuts? Fancy fruit? More and more business these days are providing office snacks for their employees to munch on throughout the day. From exciting break rooms to ping pong tables, the workplace environment is evolving into a work-friendly, employee-friendly, fun zone.

Businesses have latched on to the fact that the way to an employee’s heart is through his or her stomach – and free office snacks are making all the difference. In fact, office eats are one of the sure ways to attract top talent and sustain employee retention. There are few things that free food can’t do!

Employees have more energy. Food is fuel for the mind and body, but plenty of employees don’t keep themselves nourished throughout the day. An empty stomach can lead to grogginess and hindered productivity, which means that report won’t be on your desk until tomorrow. Serving light snacks (we’re talking fruit and nuts, not candy and sugar!), improves energy levels as well as overall productivity.

Employees are healthier. Throw out the soda and candy snacks; they aren’t doing anyone any favors. Instead, providing nuts, fruit, vegetables, granola, and water can significantly reduce your employee’s calorie and fat intake. Why pay for a donut now when you have free snacks at the office? Let’s face it; it’s better for your employees’ wallet, waistline, and overall health.

Employees are happier. Even if you do decide to bring in a box of donuts on the occasional Friday morning (which even the team at Stratosphere are guilty of!), providing employees with a snack will help boost their morale and improve their overall mood. Who can say no to a kind gesture of free food?

Need a little health inspiration? Or digital marketing? Or a new website? Either way, we’ve got you covered! Contact Stratosphere Marketing Solutions in Westlake Village, California today.

Local SEO

The Importance of User Reviews for Local SEO

Lacking reviews? Lacking good reviews? It could hurt your local SEO.

We’re in an ever-growing phase of rating, giving stars, leaving feedback, praising, and complaining. In today’s digital age, how would you feel, as a small business, if you found out that 90 percent of customers say that online reviews influence their buying decisions? After all, would you work with a company who had terrible reviews online? As it turns out, user reviews impact your local SEO strategy more than you may realize.

Online reviews are important for many reasons, and have significant implications through their ability to affect:

  • Your rankings in local search engines
  • Which results from the search are clicked on
  • Consumer purchasing decisions

In turn, online reviews are as critical to your local SEO strategy as building citations and on-site optimization. Why, you may ask, eyeing your three-out-of-five-star ranking? In a nutshell, it’s the power of social proof. People need reassurance and confirmation that their actions are the right ones.

When people are looking to get a haircut, people are probably going to avoid the businesses that have an average of one to two stars. Who wants to pay to get a bad haircut or experience? When purchasing something important, like insurance or a website, seeing an average review rating of 4 stars and reading positive reviews may provide the extra push that they need.

So where does SEO come into play? Local search engines love online reviews for one primary reason: Consumers love online reviews. It really is that simple. The faster that a search engine can provide accurate information for the user, the more consumers will return to that particular engine.

Before you embark on creating a review acquisition strategy that works for your business’s local SEO, it’s a good idea to contact the digital marketing professionals at Stratosphere Marketing Solutions in Westlake Village, California. We’re here to be a resource for insurance agencies, real estate companies, and other busy businesses. Think of us as your marketing team; call us today!

Watch Out! Domain Name Scams Could Cost You

Watch Out! Domain Name Scams Could Cost You

If you got an unsolicited letter about renewing your domain, beware. Domain name scams are becoming more common!

You already know that the internet can be a risky place. From email phishing to digital database breaches, we’re regularly reminded that it’s important to protect ourselves online. Unfortunately, there’s a recent scam that looks legitimate and is giving us yet another reason to be wary. Domain name scams could be a sinkhole for your business’s money.

You know that your business has registered for its domain (i.e. the URL people use to find you online). You also know that you had to pay money to get – and keep – that domain. With what you’ve invested, you definitely don’t want to lose your domain. Be careful, though, what you do to keep it.

A recent scam has cropped up that reaches out to businesses saying their domain registration is about to expire. Sent via letter or email, the scam often lines up with your actual domain renewal date, making it look legitimate. But, don’t respond – and definitely don’t send money – unless it’s directly from your registrar! These scammers mine WHOIS databases to find out when different business’s domains need to be renewed.

Unless you’re contacted directly by your domain registrar, you can (and should!) ignore information you get about your domain renewal. While these scams can be a helpful reminder that you need to pay to renew your domain soon, they can also be a sinkhole for your business’s money if you’re not careful. To be safe, mark your renewal dates on your calendar and go straight to your registrar to renew.

If you don’t want to have to worry about domain registration scams, contact Stratosphere Marketing Solutions in Westlake Village, California. We offer hosting options to our web design clients so that we can handle all of the work that comes with maintaining a domain. Our team of experts would never fall for one of these scams and can help you protect your business!

2016 Tech Trends, & How They Impact Your Business

2016 Tech Trends & How They Impact Your Business

It’s the age of technology; are you keeping up? Here are six 2016 tech trends that could shape your business.

Whether you like it or not, we live in a digital age. Virtually everyone has a smartphone on them, and technology is shaping the future of business. From automotive to home security to food prep, tech is making a difference. It’s also making a difference for your business. If you don’t think that’s true, that probably means you’re missing out on the opportunity to capitalize on our modern age! Here are a few 2016 tech trends you should know about, and what they mean for your business.

  • Microsoft Buys LinkedIn. Perhaps some of the biggest news to come out of last month was Microsoft’s major (think: $26.2 billion) purchase of LinkedIn. Look for Microsoft to leverage LinkedIn as a means to extend more services to businesses, including yours. Keep an eye out for integration of Microsoft products and services across your LinkedIn activities.
  • Voice Is Getting Bigger. We could be on the verge of the death of the keyboard! Siri, Cortana, and Alexa aren’t just the names of the cool girls on the literal playground. They’re taking over the metaphorical playground of search as voice search grows in popularity. A recent study found that voice search jumped by 10 percent last year and promises to continue to be one of the 2016 tech trends to watch. That means that you need to think about writing the way you talk when creating copy for SEO purposes.
  • Instagram Adds Retargeting. Well, technically Facebook is adding retargeting to Instagram. They’re extending their “Dynamic Ads” to the photo-heavy platform in the coming months. That means that people who visit your website could soon see your ad pop up in their Insta feed. If you’re looking for a new way to advertise, consider tapping Instagram’s 500 million users.
  • New Logos Are Announced. Both Instagram and Netflix released new logos recently, adding credence to the school of thought that in our modern tech age, the status quo can’t stand. If it’s been a while since you’ve refreshed your business’s branding – especially your logo – it’s probably time to sit down with a designer and make some changes. Need inspiration? Check out this cool infographic on logo evolution from Wired.
  • AdWords Gets Updated. As per usual, Google’s making updates. Since the start of the year, they’ve made some changes to AdWords to make search more uniform from desktop to tablet to smartphone. Whether or not you have a PPC (pay-per-click) campaign running through Google, you’ve probably noticed some of these changes. For example, text ads in desktop search now show up at the top of organic listings instead of in a right rail sidebar. One of the changes we think has great potential is the opportunity to buy ad space on Google Maps. With these in-map ads, you can get higher visibility where it matters most – in your local area.
  • Twitter Changes Character Use. In late May, Twitter announced that the 140-character prison in which they’ve held us all is about to get a little roomier. When you reply to a tweet, the @name won’t count in your 140 limit anymore. Similarly, added media (e.g. photos, videos, gifs) won’t add characters either. And you can finally say goodbye to the pesky [email protected] hack people have used to make sure tweets that start with a person’s username can be seen by their entire network. With this change, you’ll have more freedom to share what sets your business apart on this social media platform.

We get it. Keeping up with the fast moving world of tech isn’t easy. That’s why we’re here! We keep an eye on 2016 tech trends, so you don’t have to. Contact Stratosphere Marketing Solutions in Westlake Village, California to have the pros handle your online marketing and keep you ahead of the digital curve.
